Phil Collins turns 73 years old today, January 30, marking another year around the sun.

Lily Collins, his daughter, posted a picture of herself and her father skiing when she was younger as an homage to her father in observance of his special day.

"Happy birthday dad!," the 34-year-old wrote, oozing with sweetness. "You were always my ski wing man, whether we were having an adventure on a wintery hill or on a clear day at Lake Geneva.

In honor of her father Phil Collins' birthday, Lily posted a vintage picture with the caption, "Love you to the top of the highest mountain and to the bottom of the deepest wave."

This prompted many others to give their greetings and love as well.

Thanks to a few tiny acting roles and the (pun intended) origin of an English band called origin, the singer's career got underway in the 1960s.

In the group's prime, members comprised Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett, and Peter Gabriel. He started out as their lead drummer before moving on to lead vocals.

Over the course of their three-decade career, the group sold between 100 and 150 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling musical bands of all time. They also became one of the pioneers of the progressive rock genre. In 1996, Phil departed from the group to pursue his own solo projects.

Though he started experimenting with solo material in the late 1970s, his commercially successful 1981 single "In the Air Tonight" marked his debut. He became one of the most commercially successful acts of the 1980s and 1990s, continuing to work with Genesis while creating solo successes such as "Against All Odds," "Sussudio," "Don't Lose My Number," and "Two Hearts."

Since then, the celebrity has made fewer public appearances; his most notable performance was during Genesis' 2021-2022 reunion tour. When they played their last gig in London's O2 Arena, he said, "It's the last show for Genesis." With Jill Tavelman, his second ex-wife, whom he wed from 1984 to 1996, Phil shares Lily.

At first, Lily has a tense relationship with her father and lived with her mother but as she grows up and became famous in her own right, away from the shadows of her dad, she is now more understanding of her father and has grown closer to him. She detailed all this in her own book, "Lily Collins Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me."
