No one in the room has a dry eye after 80s icon Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs performed "Fast Car" at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Combs, who was nominated for Best Country Performance for the said song, seemed to be in disbelief like everyone else that he was with Chapman onstage.

Luke Combs' version of the song has since peaked at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and topped the US Country Airplay, US Hot Country Songs, and US Adult Top 40 charts. It has also been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

It won Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2023 CMA Awards, making Chapman the first Black songwriter, male or female, to win the CMA for Song of the Year in CMA history.

According to the singer, it was a "full circle moment" for him to be associated with Chapman in any way, playing that song ever since he knew how to play the guitar.

Luke Combs, Tracy Chapman 'Fast Car' Grammy Performance

As the two perform the song in front of a star-studded audience, Luke Combs seemed to be stuck in disbelief as he gazed at his idol singing one of the classics as they take turns on the verse.

Although Combs failed to take home the Grammy for Best Country Performance after losing it to Chris Stapleton's "White Horse," the experience seemed to be enough for him.

Likewise, everyone in the audience was thrilled to see the duo perform on stage. Taylor Swift was seen enjoying the song, War and Treaty pumping their fists in the air while Brandi Carlile and her wife Catherine held each other and swayed to the beat of the song.

On social media, fans were tearing up on Tracy Chapman's rare appearance and soulful performance. The last time Chapman performed it was in 2015, and the singer-songwriter has been elusive to the public since then.

"How beautiful was that? For millions of people, I bet watching Tracy Chapman perform once again was to unlock profoundly powerful memories, and be transported to some very raw places. Savor every second. Tracy is Eternal," a fan said.

"I can't remember being this moved by a performance. The peerless Tracy Chapman performs Fast Car with Luke Combs for the first time in years at the Grammys. This is very special," another shared.

"MADE ME CRY ....So happy for Tracey .It is truly wonderful what time can do sometimes ..," a third person commented.
