It has been almost 55 years since The Beatles broke the hearts of many of their fans when they officially disbanded in the 1970s. Now, a The Beatles biopic was announced to be in the works.

Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes was announced to direct four different biopics, focusing on each member of the Fab 4 separately, as their lives weave together.

The Beatles Biopic Director Announced

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sam Mendes is collaborating with Sony Pictures Entertainment for the The Beatles biopic films.

The project will focus on each of the perspectives of the four members - Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, and George Harrison.

Mendes will be directing all four films to "recapture the story of the greatest band in history."

"I'm honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies," Mendes shared in a statement.

Notably, the film will be done in cooperation with The Beatles and Apple Corp, the company that formed the Fab 4.

"We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time," Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris added.

According to the publication, the project has long been cooking at Sony and it has since been their goal to tell the story of the band from their inception to their 1970 breakup, from the lens of each band member.
