Pop sensation Katy Perry has recently resigned from her position as a judge on "American Idol" after reportedly feeling pressured by the show's producers.

Sources indicate that the "Thinking Of You" hitmaker left due to being unfairly portrayed as a negative figure, akin to a new version of Simon Cowell.

This portrayal resulted from the manipulation of her comments during the editing process.

Katy Perry The 'Villain' On 'American Idol'?

An insider who spoke with the National Enquirer stated that Katy Perry claims she was unjustly depicted as a strict and unkind judge on the show, and her decision to leave was entirely her own.

However, the reality may be that she aligns more closely with that persona than she realizes, leading to frustration among those around her.

The "Fireworks" hitmaker recently revealed that the upcoming 22nd season would mark her final stint as a judge on the show, having shared the panel with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan since ABC revived the series in 2018.

The mom-of-one emphasized that her decision was driven by a desire to explore new opportunities in her career rather than any internal conflicts.

"Well, you know, this fall, this September, I'm going to be doing this huge music festival called Rock in Rio in Brazil. It's really exciting," Katy told Jimmy Kimmel on his show.

"I love 'Idol' so much. It connected me with the heart of America. But I need to feel that pulse of my beat."

Katy Perry 'Mom-Shamed'

Leading up to her departure, Katy Perry also faced backlash for appearing to "mom-shame" contestant Sara Beth Liebe by suggesting she was spending excessive time with her children.

More recently, she was criticized for publicly commenting on Nutsa Buzaladze's flashy wardrobe choices.

Following the applause that erupted when Sara revealed she was a mother of three by age 25, Katy and the other judges expressed their amazement.

The "Black Horse" singer was so impressed by this revelation that she began to fan herself.

"If Katy lays on the table, I think I'm going to pass out," Sara said, to which Katy replied, "Honey, you've been laying on the table too much."

"It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was hurtful," Sara said via TikTok in early 2023. "I see all of the young moms and just moms in general ... keep loving your babies. Nobody deserves to feel crappy about that."

"If you're a good mama and you love your babies, that's all that really matters. Other comments don't feel necessary."

During a performance last April 2023, Katy received a negative reaction from the crowd after she commented to Nutsa, "Every time you take the stage, it's like you glitter bomb the stage."

Insiders have revealed that producers expressed disappointment over the poor viewership numbers for the previous season's final episode.

According to the source, "The production team is growing weary of the constant turmoil linked to Katy."

"It was conveyed to her that if she didn't decide to depart voluntarily, steps would be taken to part ways with her."
