Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour in Asia is only composed of two countries - Japan and Singapore. The exclusivity sparked fury and debate among Swifties and lawmakers about why it was limited to these two countries.

Apparently, Singapore has signed a deal with Taylor Swift's promoter that makes the country her only stop in the Southeast Asian region.

Taylor Swift 'The Eras' Tour Singapore: Lawmaker Pushes Probe on Exclusivity Deal

According to The South China Morning Post, a congressman from Manila, Philippines, is pushing an investigation as to why Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour is only limited to Singapore.

Congressman Joey Salceda implored the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs to explain why Singapore limited Swift's tour in their home country.

Apparently, a deal was inked between Taylor Swift and the Singaporean government, limiting Swift's stop to only their country. Swift was reportedly offered around $2-3 million per show in exchange for only performing in Singapore.

Taylor Swift performs six shows in Singapore from Mar. 2 to 4, 2024, to Mar. 7 to 9, 2024, at the National Stadium.

Salceda called Singapore's selfish move something "not what good neighbors do."

"Some [US$3 million] in grants were allegedly given by the Singapore government to [concert promoter AEG] to host the concert in Singapore," Salceda noted. "The catch was that they do not host it elsewhere in the region."

Thailand PM Frowns Taylor Swift 'The Eras' Tour Exclusivity Deal

Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed concern over the exclusivity deal earlier this month.

"If she (Taylor Swift) came to Thailand, it would have been cheaper to organise it here, and I believe she would be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand. Even though we would have to subsidise at least 500m baht, it would be worth it," the Prime Minister told reporters, as quoted by The Hindustan Times.

Thailand and the Philippines hail one of the biggest fanbases of Taylor Swift in Southeast Asia. Spotify once listed Quezon City, the biggest city in the Philippines, as the fifth city in the world that listens to Taylor Swift the most.

In lieu of Taylor Swift's "The Eras" Tour in the Philippines, drag queen and Taylor Swift impersonator Taylor Sheesh performs "The Errors Tour" to satisfy Filipino Swifties need for a "The Eras" tour experience by dressing up in exact tour costumes and performing at sold-out venues.
