Azealia Banks has expressed disagreement with Lizzo's decision to "quit" due to feeling marginalized for her appearance.

The 32-year-old American hip-hop artist directly addressed the 35-year-old "Truth Hurts" hitmaker, commenting on her choice of self-deprecation as a means of introduction.

Azealia said in a lengthy Instagram comment, "But sis..... your handle is 'lizzo be eating.'"

"You've definitely given the public license to laugh at and with you by twerking at the Burger King counter and bathing in a tub of skittles," the "New Bottega" hitmaker said.

Amid widespread celebrity support, Azealia advised Lizzo to shift the focus and refrain from portraying herself as a victim. The "Luxury" singer highlighted the importance of directing attention towards her music instead of getting entangled in a victim narrative.

"Self-deprecation was certainly the aesthetic you chose to introduce yourself with. So I don't see why you'd play victim rather than just stop intentionally inviting people to make jokes about that."

She said, "You're a beautiful girl, with a handle on music theory, Grammy awards and tons of success, just change the narrative and go highbrow philharmonic on these 'is' and collab with Ryuchi Sakamoto."

Lizzo Quits

In a surprising announcement on Friday, Lizzo shocked the music world by announcing her decision to "quit."

The "Juice" singer shared with her followers on Instagram that she was stepping away from fame due to feeling constantly criticized for her appearance.

"I'm getting tired of being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."

"All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it."

Lizzo further stated, "I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views... being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look."

"My character being picked apart by people who don't know me and disrespecting my name."

"I didn't sign up for this s--t. I quit."

Lizzo quitting comes just a day following the lawyer of the three former dancers, who had sued her for sexual harassment, criticized President Joe Biden for allowing her to perform at his high-profile $25 million Radio City fundraiser.

In August 2023, Lizzo faced legal action from three former dancers - Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez - alleging sexual harassment and the establishment of a toxic workplace.
