Is Linkin Park returning to the music scene with a new female singer leading their vocals? We may have just found out.

Orgy frontman Jay Gordon divulged during a recent interview that he has heard the band is returning with a new singer. For the majority of the band's existence, Chester Bennington served as lead vocalist. However, the band went on hiatus following Bennington's death by suicide in 2017.

While speaking to KCAL 96.7's RadioActive Mike Z on his radio show, Loud Wire reports that Gordon reminisced on past memories with the band after opening for them on their first tour and later remixing their "Pts.OF.Athrty" track on the Reanimation remix album.

"Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band. They've been around a long time and they're still going for it," the singer shared.

Following the trip down memory lane, Gordon went on to spill that he heard the band is reuniting with a new singer, hinting that they may go from having a frontman to a frontwoman.

"It's going to be tough without Chester [Bennington], but we'll see. I hear they got a girl singer now. That's what I heard," he stated. "Don't quote me on that. I'm not sure who the singer is going to be, but I heard it was gonna be female. They might just try to move on like that. That ought to be interesting."

While the band has not recorded any new material since Bennington's passing, they recruited some of their friends to fill in for the late singer at a tribute concert. The 2017 Hollywood Bowl performance featured several female singers stepping in on vocals, including Alanis Morissette, Bebe Rexha, and Julia Michaels. The livestream of the concert has garnered millions of views on the band's YouTube page.

Although touring and new music has been put on hold, Linkin Park has still observed the major anniversaries of their past works. Recently, their fans have been treated to 20th anniversary reissues of Meteora and Hybrid Theory.

Bennington's vocals will be heard on an upcoming drop of a previously-unreleased song. On April 12, the band will drop "Friendly Fire," along with a compilation album of their singles. Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023) will feature hit singles like "Faint," "Crawling," and "In the End."

While the band did not record any new music for the release, the resurgence of their greatest hits could lead to a potential reunion tour or new record with their suspected female addition.

Upon the announcement of their hiatus, the remaining members of the band included Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, and Rob Bourdon.
