Reba McEntire has been around for decades now, and even though she amassed massive fame when she was younger, she didn't let the societal pressures of Hollywood change not only her style but also her authentic self.

The musician recently spoke to People magazine about the early days of her career. She said she continued loving herself with her twangy country vocals and copper hair even though Hollywood set a certain standard.

Even though she remained authentic throughout her life, she also admitted that there were times when she didn't feel confident, especially when she was younger.

McEntire grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma, and she didn't have her own sense of style; she was a "tomboy" before. Part of it was due to her mother's influence, who never had a beauty regimen.

"If we got a brush through our hair, that was another big step. Get our teeth brushed, that was another big deal. So the niceties past that was not even a thought. It was just surviving," she recalled.

At school, the musician felt different; she wanted to be tan like her classmates, but she finally accepted her complexion later in life.

"Getting comfortable in my own skin was a revelation and a source of freedom," she added.

Reba McEntire Once Felt Uncomfortable Due to Her Fashion

There were moments in McEntire's life when she felt uncomfortable not dressing as she used to, as she remembered being put in a strapless dress for an awards show, and it constantly fell.

At the time, the musician said she was "self-conscious," but she also realized from that moment she had to stand up for herself.
