Ashanti finally disclosed that she is expecting her first child with Nelly and disclosed their engagement.
In an Essence interview, the 43-year-old singer revealed her pregnancy and engagement to Nelly.
"This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation," she explained.
"Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience."
Ashanti Pregnant With Nelly's First Child
While this will be Ashanti's first kid, her partner, 49, and his former partner, Channetta Valentine, are parents to two of his adult children, Cornell Haynes III, 25, and Chanelle, 30.
Nelly also took in Sydney Thomas, his nephew, and Shawn as adopted after the death of his sister, Jackie Donahue.
Along with advertising her and Nelly's fertility diagnostics business Proov, Ashanti also shared a video announcing her pregnancy with her Instagram followers.

In the video, Ashanti is seen getting ready for a concert before Tina Douglas, her mother, inquires, "How much time do you need?"
Before coming out of the wings with a swab, Ashanti gets an early pregnancy test from Proov and states, "I'm going to need about nine months."
She included a funny emoji, praying hands, and a red heart as a caption for the photo, which said, "Baby baby baby baby."
Fans in the comment section called the baby the blessing they have been waiting for since 2004.
Nelly and Ashanti Relationship Timeline
For those who don't know, one of the 2000s' most beloved music couples was Nelly and Ashanti.
They apparently dated on and off for ten years, having released music together since they started dating in 2003. Future plans for an engagement were also discussed.
But as their romance came to a close in 2013, Ashanti said she felt deceived by the rapper.
However, time heals all wounds, as they say.
Ashanti was so much in love with her ex that, following their brief meeting at the Fat Joe and Ja Rule Verzuz in September 2021, she disclosed that she was in a better position with him during her December Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen interview.
Following months of conjecture, by September 2023, the two verified they are back in each other's arms.
