The Foo Fighters are heading to South America this winter for a handful of shows.

As Consequence of Sound points out, the group, led by frontman Dave Grohl, announced that they will make stops in Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janerio, Brazil and Bogata, Columbia at the beginning of the new year (see full schedule below). Venues and ticket information will be available soon, according to the band's website. The band has shows scheduled in Las Vegas and New Orleans in the coming months before they head to South Africa for gigs in Cape Town and Johannesburg in December.

The band will be supporting their eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, which is out Nov. 10 via RCA Records. Some friends of the Foos joined them for this release with Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, contemporary bluesman Gary Clark Jr., punk icon Joan Jett and The Eagles' Joe Walsh all contributing.

Grohl spoke with Billboard recently about the new album. "As we were coming down from the success of the last record, I thought, 'Now we have license to get weird,'" he said. "If we wanted, we could make some crazy, bleak Radiohead record and freak everyone out. Then I thought, 'F- that.'...The music is a progression or an evolution, for sure, but it's a Foo Fighters record."
