Could Kendrick Lamar's verse with Big Sean on "Control" have been a stunt to earn himself more nominations for the BET Hip-Hop Awards? Probably not. But the rapper did bring an astonishing 14 nominations. These include nominations for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Live Performer, and a slew of awards that seem to be for the same thing (MVP of The Year, Lyricist of the Year, Made-You-Look-Award, Hustler Award...you get it).

J. Cole didn't do too badly either, bringing in 10 nominations, versus "only" four for the most hyped musician of the year, Kanye West. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, aiming for the hypothetical record of most overall nominations in a year, overcame race factors and managed to score a nod.

Snoop Dogg will host the awards ceremony, which will be held September 28 at the Atlanta Civic Center. Check below to see if your favorite performer got any nods.
