Perhaps you've heard, from watching the MTV Video Music Awards or otherwise, that "twerking" is the biggest, or at least most notorious dance move at the moment. Electronic musician Thomas "Diplo" Pentz is hoping to use the fad to bring some attention to his work. After all, according to Wikipedia, his single "Express Yourself" featuring Nicky Da B "made twerking the most popular dance move since the Dougie." Now the producer and Major Lazer honcho is aiming to set a world record, official or not, involving the style.

Diplo will be performing at New York City's Electric Zoo music festival this Sunday, and he's hoping handfuls of attendees will help him celebrate the dance-form that's become Miley Cyrus's calling card. Based on a tweet sent out by the artist, Diplo is looking for 50 girls to take part in what he calls a "WORD (sic) RECORD TWERK WALL." We're not experts and we didn't reach out to Diplo for comment, but we presume that a "twerk wall" will consist of 50 ladies getting freaky at the front of the stage.

Diplo is at least playing it safe and obeying the fire code. He's set the limit to 50 women onstage with him, and provided an e-mail address by which aspiring twerkers can apply for the honor: twerk4diplo@gmail.com. Sorry guys, it seems pretty clear from his use of feminine pronouns that dudes need not apply. Lest there be any suggestion that Diplo is objectifying the female body, the producer clarified that twerking is an example of freedom of speech, and he established this with the hashtag #expressthemselves, a spinoff of his normal twerk-tag, #expressyourself.
