Britney Spears awoke yesterday morning to find that a low-quality version of her single, "Work Bitch" had been leaked.

She originally slated the release for tonight at 6 p.m., but had to work quickly to put the mastered version on the air as soon as possible to mitigate the spread of the low-quality leak. Fans were urged to restrain themselves from listening to "Work Bitch" until the official release. They moved the radio premier up to 3 p.m. ET, and the song became available on iTunes at 12:01 a.m. in the U.S. and a few hours later globally (except the U.K.).

Adam Leber, Spear's manager, posted multiple tweets explaining the situation and his disappointment. "Incredibly upset that a low quality recording of #WORKBxxCH leaked last night, ruining the fans first experience with the song. ...Disheartening that one bad apple had to spoil our release for the entire fan community but nonetheless, we hope you love #WORKBxxCH."

The EDM-influenced single clocks in at a little over four minutes. It is a fast-paced, thumping dance track that at time during the verses doesn't quite sound like Spears, but maintains Britney's signature sound during the chorus.

Despite the rush-release, her fans have responded well to the new single (Spears has retweeted some good reviews), and according to MTV News, it has reached No. 6 behind princesses of pop Lady Gaga, Lorde, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

Spears is grateful to her fans for the support. She tweeted earlier saying:

From her Tweets earlier today, it looks like fans can expect the "Work Bitch" music video soon — possibly Tuesday.
