Just last week, Azealia Banks surprise-released her debut album Broke with Expensive Taste, and today she has shared the music video for the album's latest single "Chasing Time," which you can check out below. The vaguely sci-fi-inspired video is shot in black and white and features some intense choreography, making it reminiscent of Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" and Madonna's "Vogue" music videos, which gives this clip — and the song itself — a simultaneously modern, retro and futuristic feel.

"Chasing Time" is the fifth single to be released from Broke with Expensive Taste, following "Heavy Metal and Reflective," "Yung Rapunxel," "Luxury" and "212" featuring Lazy Jay. The album was originally set for release in 2012, but was subjected to numerous delays due to Banks's problems with her label Interscope.

"I don't know what the source of conflict was," she told Pitchfork about the album's delay, "because, to my understanding, I thought it was cool with everyone. I would always send them my songs and feel as if they liked me, even if they didn't get it."

"But it got to a point where they were like, 'Azealia, we get it, you're cool, but we've spent $2 million on this record, can you just give us one [hit]?,'" she continued. "So then I did 'Chasing Time,' and I was just like, 'You know, this isn't gonna work out.'"

Banks was eventually dropped from Interscope and ended up self-releasing Broke with Expensive Taste. When asked if she would ever consider signing with another major label, Banks replied, "No ... I don't wanna work with people. I don't want your opinion, I'm not interested."
