Every piece of new information about Rihanna's album points toward a release before the New Year, but no specific date has been given yet. The "Stay" singer's follow-up to 2012's Unapologetic is rumored to drop in the near future. Entertainment Tonight caught up with Rihanna at the premiere of a new film titled It's Not There to talk about the new effort.

All Rih could give the crew was a "very soon" when asked about the album's release date. "That's my hope," she added. "I'm really excited about the music that we've been working on, so I can't wait for everybody to hear it."

The pop star seems very unsure in the video clip below, but that might be because she's planning a surprise release like Beyoncé's 2013 self-titled album.

Recently, DJ Skee said Rih let a few Def Jam executives listen to 10 tracks from the album. He also said that the record is "a lot closer than anyone realized, which seems to be the word on the street. Ne-Yo, who worked on the effort, called the it "absolutely incredible."

"Anybody who is a Rihanna fan is going to stay a Rihanna fan, and anybody who wasn't a Rihanna fan might become one," he added.

A possible tracklist for the album leaked last month, giving fans an unofficial look at the record, which, according to the memo, might be titled Lost Files. Nothing has been confirmed from Rih's camp though.

Unapologetic was a powerhouse release for the singer, conquering the charts with singles like "Stay," "Diamonds" and "Pour It Up." The album got generally good reviews.

"Unapologetic's stark, shadowy R&B is confrontationally honest and sung within an inch of its life, whether she's turning a strip-club anthem into a declaration of independence ('Pour It Up') or pleading at the piano ('Stay')," Rolling Stone wrote.
