Will Butler has a new solo album coming out in March, and we got our first taste of it Monday morning with the release of the official teaser trailer for Policy.

The jack-of-all-trades Arcade Fire member scrawled several messages for fans and edited them into the video, which spastically switches from clip to clip and previews a handful of songs for fans.

Check it out:

As previously reported by our own Joey DeGroot: Butler has also written music for films. He composed the score to the Spike Jonze film Her with Canadian musician — and Arcade Fire collaborator — Owen Pallett, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score.

"It was intense, because there were a lot of creative forces at work," Butler said. "Everyone in the band is so particular, and then Spike is also very particular, and in this case Spike had the last word because it was his movie [laughs]. So it was interesting navigating that world."

He also told the San Diego Union-Times that the experience helped him become a stronger musician.

"[Her] really expanded my brain and ability to compromise," Butler said. "It made me feel more like Hillary Clinton [as U.S. secretary of state] than a musician, but in a good way. It was [a lot of] navigating between the band and Spike, and making music in service of the film. It's a very different enterprise than just playng music or making your own music. It was very different from what I'd done before.

"I feel like a musician now, which is something new for me."

We will receive the fruits of his labor March 10 while an international release is scheduled for March 16.
