By now everyone knows that Taylor Swift and Lorde are besties, but would the two hit makers ever consider collaborating? Both singers have Grammys under their belts. Both have had No. 1 singles. What would happen if they combined forces to make the ultimate pop song? Fans would surely eat it up, and the media would, too. TayLorde has a decent ring to it, right? Well, before you get excited, Lorde has offered up an answer to whether she'd consider writing music with her best bud. In an interview with E!, she said they don't plan to work together anytime soon and has "no idea" if they'll ever collaborate.

The reason they aren't rushing off to make pop history has to do with their individual aesthetic, she told E!

"She's amazing and she's very talented, but I feel like the way she writes is very much her voice," Lorde told them. "It's the same with me. We're very kind of singular."

Ok fine. We get it. But maybe they could do a side project that's outside of their own "singular" sounds? Or maybe, at the very least, they could cover each other's songs? We're not going to give up on the idea just yet!

While we daydream about that possibility, we can look forward to Lorde's follow-up to her critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning debut album Pure Heroine.

Speaking to NME, she said that she doesn't have a timeline for the project.

"For me, I have to kind of write a project lyrically before I attack it musically," she told them. "So I've written a lot of amazing stuff and I'm just tentatively starting to make it music."

Meanwhile her best bud Swift is still riding high on the success of her latest album 1989. Her first officially foray into pop, the album is on its ninth week at No. 1 since debuting 11 weeks ago.
