Back in 2010, pop singer Taylor Swift and "Glee" hunk Cory Monteith were rumored to be dating, and definitely flirted on occasion. Some have even speculated that Swift's songs "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Back to December" were written about the "Glee" star. Unfortunately, Monteith died of an apparent drug overdose this weekend, leaving so many (including Taylor) in a state of shock and mourning. Not one to shy away from emotion while writing songs, Swift is starting work on her Red follow up and this current, unfortunate situation is sure to have an impact on Swift's songs.

Whether or not the two ever dated, they were close at one point in their lives and this loss is clearly affecting Swift.

Swift is currently writing her latest album and says she wants to "branch out" from her usual mix of break up tunes.

"I'm sure at some point in my career I'll branch out and do albums that relate to other peoples' stories or have a different overall theme, but I'll always write from the heart and I'll continue to write about love, because romance is something we are all looking for," she said.

Taylor revealed that she keeps a notebook next to her bed and is often inspired at random times when it comes to lyrics.

"It's when a lot of the good ideas come," she explained. "When I'm travelling on a plane or in a car, I'll start thinking, too. I think of things in the form of lyrics."

Though she says that she hopes to get away from writing about ex-boyfriends, perhaps her new album will let her be less "speechless" when it comes to the untimely death of her (rumored) ex, Monteith.
