The Young Money beef between Lil Wayne and Birdman has reached a fever pitch, with Wayne planning to sue his former mentor for $8 million over an unpaid advance.

Cracks began to show at the end of 2014, when Wayne complained the label was holding his album too long.

"I am a prisoner and so is my creativity Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album. But thk u," he wrote on Twitter.

Soon after that, the relationship appeared to have been sewn up.

But now, Vibe reports that Wayne is going after Birdman for $8 million thanks to an album advance check that allegedly never showed up.

As previously reported, Young Money Entertainment was founded in 2007 as an imprint of Cash Money. Lil Wayne served as the label's president for some time but stepped down later that year to focus on music. Rapper Mack Maine currently heads the label, a position he took on in 2009 after Wayne's manager, Cortez Bryant. Nicki Minaj and Drake both signed to YM once Maine became president.

Wayne isn't the only one upset with Young Money. Tyga blamed YM for the delay of his The Golden Album: 18th Dynasty album last fall.

"Gold album been done," he tweeted. "My label holding me hostage so I can't release nothing. Might just leak it for my fans then let them make $ off it."

As VIBE points out, Wayne addressed YM and Birdman in his recent "Coco" remix:

Who kept this sh*t together? N*gga, me, that's who
Who was there when n*ggas left us? N*gga, me, that's who
Cash Money is an army, I'm a one man army
And if them n*ggas comin' for me, I'm goin' out like Tony
Now I don't want no problems, I just want my money
Ain't gotta hold no conversation or my luggage
Tell whoever's countin' that I'm on a hundred
Birdman Jr., more like Ugly Duckling
