Empire is quickly becoming one of the hottest shows on TV, with ratings that surpass American Idol and guest appearances from the likes of Cuba Gooding Jr., Macy Gray, Courtney Love and Naomi Campbell, but there's one rising star and one very established rapper who will not be appearing on the new FOX show: Diddy and his son Quincy.

Diddy has reportedly banned his son, rising actor and singer Quincy, from a guest appearance on the premiere season of Empire over rights to his music, according to Page Six. The "banning" isn't necessarily about the content of the show, but more a matter of money and intellectual property.

As a TV show, Empire follows the format of Glee, American Idol and The Voice, wherein the artists who appear on the show will have to sign over the music rights for any songs that appear on TV, and that's not something Diddy was feeling.

"Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights," a source told Page Six. "He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show."

Despite the squabble, Quincy is somehow still being considered for a spot on the second season of Empire. So, the permanence or severity of the "ban" is rather questionable.

As for Quincy, his career will be fine either way. Last month, he released his debut single "Friends First" with French Montana.
