Jay Z paid tribute to D'Angelo's classic album Brown Sugar on his track "Lucifer" but his wife Beyoncé was paying tribute to the R&B star's other classic album, Voodoo, as part of a 15th anniversary collection on her sister Solange's website.

Saint Heron, a website curated by Saint Records and founder Solange for showcasing the collective Saint Heron (which includes Jhene Aiko and Kelela among others), published a series of testimonies to the influence of Voodoo on February 4.

Perhaps no performer had as personal a take on the album as Solange herself, boring how she and her husband with track "Africa" as the soundtrack, then recounted how "Feel Like Making Love" was a prominent song at her wedding. She also states that the song "Devil's Pie" inspired her five year-old son to attempt breakdancing.

Most are probably more interested in hearing what her sister Beyoncé had to say however, although she mirrored the praise that Solange offered.

"Voodoo is as relevant today as it was when it first came out," she said before confessing that one of his songs would inspire one of her own tracks. This is the DNA of black music; all the love, pain, social statements and rawness punctuated by his effortless vocal progression from his funky low register to his sexy falsetto. My favorite song on the album is 'Africa' and 'Untitled' definitely inspired my song 'Rocket.'"

Among the other parties paying tribute on the site are Janelle Monae, A-Trak, Thundercat and Dave Longstreth of The Dirty Projectors.
