Jaden Smith, son of actor/rapper Will Smith, dropped his first new music of 2015 recently. His three-song EP, curiously titled This is the Album, features some killer production by Daniel D'Artiste. The whole effort speaks volumes of how much talent this young wordsmith has. He also shared a video for one of the tunes, "4 My 1."

The opener, "Scarface," has Jaden rhyming over some urgent beats that would make Trent Reznor proud. His flow is effortless, letting the words come out with equal parts force and finesse. Jaden shows off some of his singing chops in the love letter "4 My 1" before falling into a dope groove. "Weekend in Atlantis" has a Childish Gambino vibe to it, and that's a compliment. This is the Album follows up the rapper's second mixtape, The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape Vol. 2, which dropped in November. The effort was released through Jaden's own app right around the time that he and his sister, Willow Smith, sat down for an interesting interview.

"The only way to change something is to shock it. If you want your muscles to grow, you have to shock them. If you want society to change, you have to shock them," he told The New York Times.

The young artist, who also acts, recently joined the cast of a new HBO Show, Brothers in Atlanta. He will join Maya Rudolph as a recurring character in the show that centers around two entertainers played by Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin who are struggling to kickstart their careers, The Wrap notes. Jaden will play the pair's "rowdy, suspiciously solvent" teenage neighbor. The show, if it goes to series, will be his first major TV role.
