It has been 18 years since Jon Bon Jovi released his last solo album Destination Anywhere. His band, Bon Jovi, put out its 12th studio effort What About Now? in 2013. So now the question is what is the singer working on in the studio? JBJ told People that he has been recording some new material, but he did not clarify what act would be putting out the tunes. He has 'about a Dozen songs' done.

As far as what inspires him nowadays when he writes songs, Bon Jovi had a simple answer: The singer just stays on top of current events.

"I just read the paper, it gives you an opportunity to write something," he said. "It's early but I'm about a dozen songs in. I feel good."

The singer was performing at an event during Fashion Week when People tracked him down. He performed a three-song set that included "Wanted: Dead or Alive," "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and "Livin' on a Prayer."

If JBJ is working on a new Bon Jovi album, longtime guitarist Richie Sambora will probably not be involved. The axeman exited the group during the tour in support of What About Now? He talked about the split in June.

"There's no bad blood with me anymore. I love Jon, and I still see the possibility of a return," Sambora told Lust for Life. "There are just a few steps I want to -- need to -- take. I wanted to make my own music and I preferred doing a few shows with my own band. I said I wanted a break."

It sounds like the guitarist has cooled down since he left the group. In February, Sambora said people wanted to see the real Bon Jovi, not one without an original member.

"At the end of the day, if you're going to buy a can of Coke, you want the real thing," he said. "Jon just has a different mentality. I know Mick Jagger wouldn't tour without Keith Richards and call it the Rolling Stones."
