Last year's American Idol champ, Caleb Johnson, is hitting the road in May for a brief tour. The singer is making stops in Atlanta, Birmingham and Nashville through the end of the month. As Billboard notes, Johnson does not have gigs scheduled for May 12 or 13 when the finale of Season 14 of American Idol will premiere, so we'll most likely see the singer on the show.

Johnson will be touring behind his debut release, Testify, which dropped in August. The album featured the Idol original "As Long as You Love Me." The single helped propel the album to No. 24 on the Billboard 200.

The singer talked about the album, which was quickly put out following his victory.

"You have to create those moments on your own," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "You really have to step outside your box and pull your energy from somewhere else. It kind of sucks, but then again, you have to roll with it and make that magic happen regardless."

Johnson recently shared the music video for "Fighting Gravity." The concept was inspired by a trip the singer took to the Misson Hospital in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina.

"I wanted to create an emotional connection and raise awareness of a disease that tragically affects so many families," he said. "I hope people will be inspired to lend support to people they know that are going through similar experiences."
