The Foo Fighters are officially back in the studio, according to a post on Instagram, which simply states "It's F***ing ON" next to a row of ATR magnetic tapes, marked Foo Fighters LP 8.

Based on the photo, it would appear the band is staying old school and recording with an analog, reel-to-reel tape. But despite the basic approach, frontman Dave Grohl has been claiming that the new record will be revolutionary.

He recently spoke with Rolling Stone about the album saying, "It's bada**. We're doing something that nobody knows about, it's f**king rad. ...We're [recording] in a way that no one's done before and we're writing the album in a way that I don't think has been done before."

The upcoming album will be the band's eighth studio album, following up 2011's Wasting Light, their first album to top the Billboard 200 Chart. The album is rumored for a 2014 release and has yet to be titled. Are you excited for the new album? Let us know in the comments section below!
