Trey Songz is the latest artist to release a surprise project. He recently took to SoundCloud to gift fans with an unannounced, new EP entitled Intermission, along with a short documentary.

According to XXL, Songz has announced that he would be dropping his new album Trigga Reloaded June 23. Last year, Songz released his album Trigga, which received moderate critical success. The album featured guest spots by Ty Dolla $ign, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, with singles including "Na Na" and "Touchin, Lovin."

Trigga Reloaded will be Songz's seventh studio album since emerging on the scene nearly 10 years ago. He first received notoriety following the release of "Open the Closet," a song made in response to R. Kelly's never-ending "Trapped in the Closet" series.

Reflecting on his career thus far, Trey Songz decided to open up to fans in a 25-minute documentary entitled Trigga Reloaded: The Intermission.

"A lot has happened in a year and after most recently completing two mega tours from the U.S. to Europe, I felt re-energized by the love and wanted to share this glimpse of the journey while giving my fans some new music with Intermission. The love I've received is beyond belief, I've attempted to reciprocate it by sharing this vulnerable yet genuine piece," he wrote.

Songz just recently wrapped his stint on the European leg of Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint tour. He also hit the road with Chris Brown and Tyga for their Between the Sheets tour.
