Last week, Big Sean posted a selfie, in which he's sporting Detroit baseball cap, to Instagram with the caption "I give her that D... #Detroit." This was probably a reference to Kanye West's 2012 track "Mercy," but the double entendre didn't go unnoticed. A person with the Twitter handle @edward_butera, the name of his girlfriend Ariana Grande's father, posted his displeasure at the caption, "that D. better be Detroit Sean."

Once the comment was noticed, the Internet went crazy thinking that Sean got checked by his lady's father. Don't get too excited, however, according to Refinery 29, Grande's publicist said the account, which is set to private and attributed to Edward Butera, is fake.

Now we're wondering who takes the time to pose as a pop star's parent online? Neither Sean nor Grande have commented themselves on the issue.

This isn't the first time Sean and Grande have made headlines about non-issues in their relationship recently. Earlier this month, Justin Bieber joined Grande on stage at The Forum in Inglewood, California, to duet on three songs ("Love Me Harder," "As Long As You Love Me" and "Where Are U Now"). During the performance, Bieber gave Grande an embrace from behind.

Soon after, a fake tweet circulated the web, with Sean reportedly penning "This kid is about to learn not to touch my girl like that. Beliebe that." Sean then "reportedly" deleted the tweet. As it turns out, Sean never tweeted anything about Grande and Bieber's duet. Big Sean's representatives reached out to TMZ to deny the claim.

Looks like all is well in Big Grande land.
