5 Seconds of Summer kicked off its Rock Out with Your Socks Out Tour last night (May 4) in Lisbon, Portugal, and in addition to ripping through fan favorites like "You Look So Perfect" and "Amnesia," 5SOS also debuted a brand new song. After pumping up the crowd with a series of "Na na nas," 5 Seconds of Summer introduced its fans to "Permanent Vacation."

"Permanent Vacation" takes a page straight out of Green Day's playbook, blending together poppy hooks with choppy guitars and lyrics that make you want to rebel (or just take a summer vacation that lasts longer than five seconds).

The song kicks off with Michael Clifford on lead vocals, singing about his numbness, broken heart and the overrated nature of a 9-to-5 job, but Luke Hemmings seems to have a solution.

"Frustration, desperation / You say you need some counter medication / Situation, no motivation / Destination / What you need is a permanent vacation," the band sings in the chorus.

"Permanent Vacation" is classic pop-punk, showing a more rock-lean to new 5 Seconds of Summer music that's sure to come in the new year.
