The ongoing beef between Young Thug and Lil Wayne just won't let up. The Atlanta rapper recently announced that he plans to release his Slime Season mixtape on the same day as Lil Wayne's Free Weezy Album.

Earlier this week, Thugger took to Instagram to reveal the release date for the first edition of Slime Season, a series of mixtapes produced by London On da Track. Slime Season is slated to be released on July 4.

Just last week, Lil Wayne announced his forthcoming project is scheduled for an Independence Day drop. Wayne recently shared news that he's joined as the latest celebrity co-owner of TIDAL as well.

The two rappers have been at odds for some time now with things taking an awkward turn last September when Thug announced that wanted to continue Weezy's 'Tha Carter' series after it was reported that Tha Carter V would be his last solo album.

Although Wayne has never publicly approved of Thug carrying the torch, the "Stoner" rhymer was sticking to his guns until he received word of a possible lawsuit.

"Can't name the mixtape Carter 6 'cause these f*ck a** n*ggas trying to sue, just like some hoes," Thug said in a clip posted on Instagram.

In May, the growing tension between the rappers took another interesting turn when a suspect in the April shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus was arrested and reports began to indicate that he may be linked to Young Thug. The alleged shooter, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, reportedly targeted the Young Money rapper for street cred.
