A Bob Dylan rarity has struck the market, as Amoeba Music in California will put a rare copy of the folk icon's Blood On The Tracks for sale. The version features different renditions of many songs on the album than what appeared on the wide release during 1975.

The pressing includes the same exact tracklist as the Blood on The Tracks that fans are familiar with, however five of the songs are different recorded versions. Dylan had cut the album in New York City, with only five pressings made at the time. He brought the original version out to Minnesota with him when he visited his brother, allowing his sibling to get a sneak peek. His brother had mixed feelings on the record, suggesting that several of the tracks, including the iconic "Tangled Up In Blue," sounded too dark, and he encouraged Bob to rerecord the same songs to sound a bit brighter. Dylan took him up on it-drafting a team of musicians in the area-and recreated new versions of "Tangled Up In Blue," "You're A Big Girl," "Idiot Wind," "If You See Her, Say Hello" and "Lily, Rosemary and The Jack of Hearts."

The final version of Blood On The Tracks, therefore has five tracks from the "Minnesota" sessions and five tracks from the "New York" sessions. The rarity that Amoeba Music is offering features nothing but the New York tracks.

Granted, the most hardcore of fans have already heard the lesser-known versions, as they were later distributed through official bootlegs. The reasoning for dumping out one's wallet and buying the physical version of the album is strictly for collecting purposes. Amoeba acquired the item when it bought up a 4,000-LP collection from "an iconic industry family." The good news is that it's got a fixed price if you're willing to shell out for it. The bad news is that you'll need to move quickly because of that. The company is looking to get $12,000 for the LP.
