It's been four months since Zayn Malik quit One Direction and now the former boy band member has totally revealed why he left the group: to go solo. Today (July 29), Malik announced on his Twitter that he has signed to RCA Records to release his first solo album.

In a series of tweets, Malik revealed that he left One Direction to make "real music" and show fans the "real me." Along with the hashtag #RCA and a very, very smiley picture, Malik revealed that he has landed himself a new record deal.

He also spent some time retweeting fans who support him, including the fact that he is now signed to the same label as Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Alicia Keys.

Malik's record deal comes just one day after it was revealed that he signed on with Iggy Azalea's manager. A timeline for his solo album has yet to be revealed. However, he has rolled out a little bit of solo material, indicating that he will move forward with an R&B heavy sound. Earlier this year, his cover of Rae Sremmurd's "No Type" arrived online, sparking an eventual feud between himself and his friend Naughty Boy.
