Over the weekend Los Angeles Clippers player Matt Barnes learned a very big lesson on the importance of telling the truth and how a lie can definitely come back to bite you---especially when its caught on camera. In recent weeks it was rumored that Barnes was one of the many suitors vying for the affections of Rihanna.

It appeared that it had all been confirmed from the horses's mouth when  caught up with the baller and inquired about the extent of he and Rihanna's relationship, where he inferred that the two had a budding friendship that could possibly grow into something more. Unfortunately for him, when the R8 songstress actually saw the footage she denied the claim and trolled the baller in the most hilarious fashion, which also prompted others to join in at his expense.

Apparently the new advisor on The Voice wasn't too keen on being associated with the baller in any shape or form. She promptly replied to the footage in true Rihanna fashion: being brutally honest while simultaneously embarrassing the baller to no end for implying that they were friends let alone something more.

Rihanna wasn't the only one who roasted Barnes for committing the cardinal sin of lying about a conquest he wished to have. Her best friend also came to her defense blasting the NBA baller for blatantly lying on the "B*tch Better Have My Money" singer and misleading the public.

Fellow player Serge Ibaka -- who's had some well documented run-ins with Barnes on the court -- definitely had some words of advice for his opponent.

Ironically, Barnes' ex reality star ex-wife Gloria Govan also weighed in on the rumored romance prior to Barnes being outed suggesting that she was happy for him and thought he definitely made an upgrade with Rihanna.

The singer has also been romantically linked to race driver Lewis Hamilton as well as up and coming rapper Travis Scott in recent weeks, but she has yet to confirm or deny any of those reports.
