A familiar name in the news as of late, Morrissey, the famed front man of the prolific 80s outfit The Smiths, announced the forthcoming publication date for his debut novel. Set to hit shelves in the UK next month, the son and heir's book is titled List Of The Lost via Penguin Books. Much like with the performer's Autobiography (which was given Penguin Classics status upon first printing), the US publication date for his novel has yet to be determined but will most likely occur in the fall.

Fans in the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand, and South Africa will be able to purchase Morrissey's literary prose as a paperback that they will undoubtedly treasure and display alongside the Manchester native's massive autobiography. Last year, the now novelist mused on the success of his prior Penguin publication in an interview cited by Stereogum and originally featured on True To You, a fan site dedicated to all things Moz. "In 2013 I published my Autobiography and it has been more successful than any record I have ever released... I have my hopes," he stated.

It can only be assumed that the former poster-boy for melancholy is content with the looming publication date despite the onslaught of backlash from the public over his recent interview on Larry King Now. Sharing his opinions on Donald Trump, Obama, depression, and suicide, the recent FYF Fest headliner's interview was reminiscent of the unabashed remarks of his younger years during the height of The Smiths' commercial success.

The plot of his forthcoming title has yet to be revealed, but for those well acquainted with his back catalog as a solo artist or intimate with the brooding lyricism of The Smiths can easily presume that the novel will not be a happy one (as suggested by its title). Much like his literary favorites, Morrissey has never been known for crafting sanguine.
