A slew of Kurt Cobain tributes have come forth due to the approaching 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's, including uncomfortable looking statues in his hometown of Aberdeen, WA. The newest addition to the list is the "Kurt Cobain" entry into the Tribute series from Bluewater Productions, a comic book publisher. The publication will be available starting April 2, the anniversary of Cobain's death

"Not only is this a great way to understand the importance of his contribution to music, but it is a great tool for kids to read about him in a different medium," said Darren Davis, the publisher for Bluewater. "Our biography comic books are now taught in schools and libraries for students and reluctant readers."

Bluewater has covered the lives of many celebrities with its biographical comic books, ranging from Hillary Clinton to Kim Kardashian, and from Prince William to Nelson Mandela, so it's kind of tough to gauge whether profit or honest good intentions are behind the releases. The company has also handled bio-comics on rockers such as Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and it has a Freddie Mercury bio in the works.

The good news is that series is reportedly based entirely in real-world biography, versus exaggerating rumor and legend. Of course, Cobain didn't exactly make too much of his life and personal thoughts public outside of his music, so Bluewater could be reaching here. And no amount of good intention is going to get us over the cover image of the vocalist, featuring zombie-gray eyes and a two-dimensional goatee that seems to have been drawn on his real face with charcoal pencil.

For our money, we'd suggest you check out an understandably legend-based graphic novel bio of a performer you know far less about. Me and The Devil Blues examines the awesomely mysterious life of blues legend Robert Johnson, and won a Glyph Comics Award in 2009.
