Midfielder Yohan Cabaye is most likely going to miss this important match. Pardew gave an update on his injured players earlier this week.

"Cabaye was injured and we're sweating on him for Saturday [against United]," he said. "Connor [Wickham] and [Marouane] Chamakh are both training but they won't make Saturday for sure. Pape [Souare], same again fingers crossed, and he is an important player for us down that left-hand side."

Meanwhile, United lost to Middelsbrough in a huge Capital One Cup upset this week due to penalties. Van Gaal said it was simply bad luck.

"They were lucky but of course you can force the luck," he explained. "We have created a lot of chances, especially in the second half and in extra time. We had chances from one meter, two meters in front of the goal. We have to finish those. In football it is always the goals that are counting and not the chances."
