For many, it will be refreshing to see 50 Cent's name in the headlines for something other than a high-profile feud. However, unfortunately, 50's news is not exactly celebratory. As fans were told, his new mixtape "The Kanan Tape" was set for release this past Thursday (Thanksgiving). However, as the day came and passed, fans realized that 50 was not going to fulfill his promise. Now, the Queens-born rapper is saying the mixtape will be released sometime during the first week of December.

According to HipHopDX, the mixtape will feature production from heavyhitters like London On Da Track, Alchemist, !llmind, and Sonny Digitial.

50 Cent sat down with DJ Whoo Kid on Saturday to discuss the reasons behind the tape's delay, and his upcoming projects. The former G-Unit member said that the mixtape was ready, but there were certain aspects of the final project that weren't entirely "right." He said, "It's gonna come first week of December. I promised that because I had a few things that I had to just get right with the tape. Like, everything is done. It's just sitting there."

The mixtape only includes eight tracks, which surprised some because of 50's scant output in recent years. However, 50 clarified that this was far from all the material he was ready to release. He told DJ Whoo Kid, regarding his decision to only include eight tracks, "I did that on purpose. I'm leaving space because I'ma come back - following this tape, I'ma come back with Reloaded. I'm not gon' sit around."

Calling in from Abu Dhabi, 50 also explained that he preferred to have all the music videos shot beforehand, so he can visualize everything when he is finally ready to release the music. Inspired by Chris Brown's recent visual expression, 50 decided he wanted to make something closer to a film.
