Zayn Malik is just a few weeks in to his solo career, but his new single "Pillowtalk" has done something that One Direction never has - he has a No. 1 single. This week, Zayn's breakout R&B track has beaten new singles by Drake, Justin Bieber and Twenty One Pilots to arrive atop the American charts.

According to Billboard, Zayn's "Pillowtalk" is the 25th song in the Hot 100's history to debut at No. 1, and he did so by a landslide with 267,000 digital downloads (and a No. 1 debut on that chart) and 22.3 million streams in the United States (the fourth-most ever). Zayn dominated the charts this week, pushing Justin Bieber's former No. 1 singles "Love Yourself" and "Sorry" each down one spot to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

With his massive debut on the Hot 100, Zayn has marked an achievement 1D never was able to - a chart topping American single. The band's best ranking is No. 2 with 2013's "Best Song Ever."

Beneath the big Zayn debut and Bieber's back-to-back runners up, the top five is rounded out by familiar pop hits from the first part of this year. Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out" was displaced down to No. 4, and Adele's former 10-week chart topper "Hello" slipped to No. 5.

Though Zayn's debut is the big chart story of this year, he's not the only big arrival in the top 10. Drake's new single "Summer Sixteen" also has a big, showy debut at No. 6. Drake also had a massive sales with 215,000 copies of the new song sold, likely due to the song's Apple Music exclusive deal for streaming.

Drake has another back-to-back in him - his Rihanna collaboration "Work" rises up two spots to No. 7.

As Zayn and Drake debut and Rihanna rise, Flo Rida's "My House" and The Chainsmokers' "Roses" both fall down three spots on the charts, landing respectively at Nos. 8 and 9.

The top 10 of the Hot 100 is rounded out by a newcomer - G-Eazy and Bebe Rehxa's "Me, Myself & I" gained two chart positions to land at No. 10 thanks to a 13 percent increase in streams and 12 million plays.
