Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Gallant, born Christopher Gallant, has made his debut album Ology available to stream in full nearly a week ahead of its official release date. The ambitious 16-track LP only has one feature on the record and it is from Jhené Aiko.
Now streaming on NPR, the full record shows the range and talent that Gallant brings to the table. His falsettos are a dominant force throughout the album, while the production comes in varied forms with notes of disco, soothing R&B, jazz and downtempo electronic music. It is the latest example of a project that does not stay in one lane, but rather borrows and veers into many different musical territories because it is almost expected artists will do that and it is much easier to do so in 2016.
He released his first project Zebra in 2014 and has since become a popular figure online with singles like his breakout song "Weight In Gold" and the recent collab with Aiko "Stepping Stones."
He is heading out on tour with ZHU later this spring to support his mysterious fellow Mind of a Genius label mate. The tour will hit cities like Boston, Miami, Montreal, Detroit and New York City.
Ology will be released next Wednesday, April 6. Fans can pre-order the LP on iTunes and stream the full LP below via NPR.
