Everyone has been touched by Prince's music in some way of another. Whether he was a staple of your childhood, cornerstone of your music collection or occasionally passed through your ears from time to time, Prince was an omnipresent musical force in the latter half of the 20th century. Much like another eccentric and influential pioneer who was taken from this earth this year, David Bowie, tributes have been pouring in from across the world. The latest is from President Barack Obama who posted a touching tribute on his Facebook page.

"Today, the world lost a creative icon. Michelle and I join millions of fans from around the world in mourning the sudden death of Prince. Few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music more distinctly, or touched quite so many people with their talent," wrote the President. "As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk. R&B. Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader, and an electrifying performer."

He went on to quote Prince, "A strong spirit transcends rules," before finishing off his remarks with two final thoughts. "Nobody's spirit was stronger, bolder, or more creative. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his band, and all who loved him."

Prince died earlier today in his Paisley Park mansion near Minneapolis. He was just 57 years old. Cause of death is still being determined at this time, but until then check out how you can listen his music today here.
