Yesterday Weezer shared the cover of its upcoming studio album Everything Will Be Alright In The End, its ninth overall, which is a painting of a giant, furry monster roaring down an autumnal hillside (seen above). According to The A.V. Club, the cover was painted by Chris McMahon, who's known for taking paintings found in thrift stores and adding monsters to them (you can see more of McMahon's lovely artwork here).

The cover was shared in a teaser video for the upcoming album (just one of many released by the band in the last three months), which also features a snippet of a song which is possibly titled "My Mystery," as that's the title of the video. You can watch the video below.

Opinions of the album cover have been mixed. MTV called the cover "adorably nightmare inducing," while Stereogum called the cover "pretty cool." However, The A.V. Club called it "dumb" and said that it "doesn't do much to reverse the trend" of "the new low" set with the cover of the band's previous album, Hurley. For what it's worth, this writer finds the cover absolutely beautiful, and is Weezer's best album cover since 1996's Pinkerton, though this is coming from something who thought that the cover of Hurley was actually hysterically funny.

Everything Will Be Alright In The End is Weezer's first studio album since 2010, and the band's first to be produced by the Cars' Ric Ocasek since 2001's self-titled "Green Album." (Ocasek also produced the band's classic debut.) No release date has been announced yet.
