Demi Lovato recently trashed Taylor Swift and her “Bad Blood” music video for tearing down Katy Perry in a recent interview, and ignited controversy on the Internet in the process.

“I think that having a song and video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment. We all do things that aren’t, but I have to ask myself, ‘Am I content with calling myself a feminist?’ Yes, because I speak out,” the singer said to Glamour.

Following the Glamour interview, Lovato posted to Twitter, saying, "Also don't forget words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say.

This past February, Lovato ran into controversy with Swift fans when she subtweeted the Wildest Dreams singer following her $250,000 donation to aid Kesha amidst the legal battle with Dr. Luke

Thus far, spokespeople for Lovato have not commented on her views on Swift and the “Bad Blood” music video.

Lovato is also reportedly taking a break from the music industry starting in 2017 and also posted about it on Twitter. “So excited for 2017 . Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media.”

Former bestie Selena Gomez also recently announced that she was leaving the industry temporarily due to anxiety, panic attacks and depression related to lupus.
