It appeared her career was on an upswing, but Azealia Banks won’t be signing a record deal with RZA following the alleged Russell Crowe assault. She is allegedly backing out of the deal because the rapper refused to back up her version of the story.

Banks originally described the incident in a Facebook post reported by E! News, which read, “To recap my night, I went to a [party] at Russell Crowe’s suite, at which he called me a n - - - - r, choked me, threw me out and spat at me.” Banks has since deleted the post, but reportedly it further read, “Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today.”

Sources at the party had reported that Banks had antagonized Crowe, laughed at his music and referred to them as “boring white men.” Crowe then reportedly called security, put Banks in a bear hug and ousted her from the party.

Raymani, a representative for Banks, had told E! on Monday that she was planning to press charges against Crowe, and that she was “disgusted” by the false reports of what actually happened at the Oscar-winning actor’s party and was “disappointed” in the behavior of other men at the party.

TMZ reports that RZA asserted that Banks was the one using the n-word at the party and that Banks is “full of it.” When the “212” rapper was called by RZA’s representatives to finalize the record deal, she refused to participate because he hadn’t backed her up.

There is no word yet as to whether Banks will still be acting alongside Jill Scott and Common in the musical drama, Coco, produced by RZA.

RZA further issued a statement via Facebook on just exactly what he thinks of her behavior at the party, saying that "I have a wife, daughters, sisters and females on my staff so I protect women everyday. I pray none of them ever behave the way I witnessed Azealia Banks behaved that night."
