In a recent interview, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood revealed that he and his bandmates will be returning to the studio in September, Pitchfork reports. While speaking with Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 6, Greenwood shared an update about the band and its future, saying, "We're going to start up in September, playing, rehearsing, and recording, and see how it's sounding."

This announcement comes just a month after Greenwood revealed, in a column he wrote for The Guardian, that the band had taken a year off following its most recent tour. As NME points out, this is very welcome news for Radiohead fans, considering that the band's bassist Colin Greenwood, Jonny' brother, admitted earlier this year that plans for a new album weren't set in stone, saying, "It's all up in the air at the minute. [Thom Yorke's] just come back from touring Atoms for Peace and he's having some quiet time. I'm sorry to be vague but we're all just taking it easy at the moment. Just enjoying being at home and hanging out really. But at the same time, the vibe is very much Oxford and all good! It's like that."

Radiohead's last album was 2011's The King of Limbs, which the band promoted with a world tour that ended in 2013. In the time since then, the members of Radiohead have pursued various projects, including Jonny Greenwood's classical work and soundtracks for filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, singer Thom Yorke's band Atoms for Peace with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and drummer Phil Selway's second solo album.
