British pop newcomer Dua Lipa is heading to the Big Apple. The 22-year-old just confirmed her upcoming performance on Saturday Night Live.

The New York-based show announced on social media this week that the singer-songwriter will appear in next month's episode. Academy Award winner Natalie Portman will host the show.

On Twitter, Lipa expressed her excitement over her very first appearance on the long-running comedy programme.

"I AM THE MUSICAL GUEST ON @NBCSNL ON THE [third] of FEB," she tweeted. "I have the craziest butterflies rn and i'm nervous just typing this out. A dream come true... someone pinch me!"

Saturday Night Live has had some of the brightest stars in music perform on its stage. Last year's musical guests included Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Halsey, and Eminem. Last weekend's performer was Troye Sivan.

Meanwhile, the show's Feb. 3 episode will be Portman's second time as a host. The award-winning actress and activist will be there to promote her new movie Annihilation from writer-director Alex Garland (Ex Machina).

Strong Beginning

This week has already been a series of wins for Lipa. The young musician announced on Monday, Jan. 22, that her song "New Rules" has entered the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100. The single from her debut album rose from the number 11 spot to number 8 this week. This is the first time she has entered the top 10 of the songs chart.

The empowerment anthem also topped the Official UK Singles chart for two weeks in September. The song, as well as her eponymous album, has been nominated for the 2018 Brit Awards. The awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 21.

Forbes also recently revealed its European "30 Under 30" list of 2018, which includes the 22-year-old singer who was discovered on Soundcloud. Other celebs featured on the list are Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown, It actor Bill Skarsgard, singer Rita Ora, and model Barbara Palvin.

Earlier this year, the "Be The One" singer revealed that she has already started working on her second album. Details are scarce, but the pop musician isolated herself, with some of her favorite collaborators, in a location in Jamaica. She said she spent her time there working on her next album for a couple of weeks.
