Dave Grohl and Scream will be releasing their debut album, No More Censorship, again. The compilation was first made available in 1988.

The album was reissued last year as a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive set, but this year, it is being renamed to NMC17. The official release date will be on April 27 via Southern Lord Records.

Pete Stahl's Statement

Naomi Petersen, a photographer, found the original master tapes of Scream a few years ago. She gave them to Pete Stahl, the band's vocalist. Pete handed the tapes over to Grohl recently, and the latter remixed it in his studio.

"This record was written and recorded during Reagan's presidency. U.S. foreign policy was being disruptive in Central and Latin America, Iran-Contra... Art and music were being censored. Ed Meese, Ronald's Attorney General, was appointed to do a report on the effect of pornography on society. Hearings were held in Congress about lyrics and albums, and warnings were placed on album covers," said Pete.

Franz Stahl Talks About Album Artwork

Pete's brother, Franz Stahl, the guitarist of Scream, also talked about the cover art for No More Censorship. He said that the artwork for the album is inspired by Ai Weiwei, an activist.

"The CD and vinyl covers are each unique, but both were created in the spirit of one of Weiwei's own exhibits, and our idea, limiting or censoring information. Leaving only an acronym for the original title and a number for the year we did the remix," explained Franz.

Scream's reissue will be pressed on silver vinyl, and it will also include lyrics, photos, posters, poems, and other personal writings. The songs included in No More Censorship are "Take It From The Top," "Binge," "God Squad," "Hit Me," "Dreams," "It's Time," "GLC," "Run to the Sun," and "No Escape."

Dave Grohl Career

Grohl is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and film director. He served as the longest-running guitarist for Nirvana. He also happens to be the founder and lead vocalist of Foo Fighters.

From 1986 to 1990, Grohl was part of Scream, an American hardcore punk band from Washington, D.C. The band was originally formed in 1981, but it was only five years later that Grohl became a part of it.

Some of Scream's songs are "Gods Look Down," "Choke Word," "Came Without Warning," "Bet You Never Thought," "Land Torn Down," "A No Money Down," and "Search for Employment."
