England fans sing "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis following Three Lions' loss at this year's World Cup.

The track has served as a de facto English anthem in moments of defeat. On Wednesday, Croatia beat England with a score of 2-1, and the team will be advancing to the finals against France on Sunday.

After the match, Oasis's hit song was played, and England fans who watched the game live in Russia sang along to the track.

'Don't Look Back In Anger' Performances

"Don't Look Back In Anger" was released by the English rock band in 1995. In May, residents of the country also sang the song following the Manchester bombing that took place at Ariana Grande's concert. Grande also performed the song with Coldplay during her benefit concert.

U2 and Noel Gallagher also played the song during their tour in London. Metallica also performed the track during their October 2017 show in Manchester.

Noel Gallagher Talks About 'Don't Look Back In Anger'

Two years ago, Oasis shared the real story behind its hit song. Gallagher said that he only wrote the song a few days before he performed it live for the first time in 1995.

The track was inspired by his visit to Paul Weller at the Manor studios in Oxford to play his song "I Walk On Gilded Splinters." At the time, Weller also performed his track "Wings of Speed," and the rest was history.

In 1996, the song was used in the final scene on the last episode of Our Friends In The North on BBC.
