Mariah Carey never saw it coming - again. The album "E=MC2" that saw its debut 12 years ago on April 15, 2008, hit No. 1 spot on iTunes yesterday, April 27.
The Songbird Supreme was herself pleasantly surprised by the "E=MC2" album's renaissance 12 years from its release. Mimi tweeted, "What is going on????" with a whole lot of emojis of face shock, hearts, and lambs. Thanks to #JusticeForEMC2, that had the Twitter world push the LP up into the charts again.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter had no one to be grateful more for the excitement it had stirred than her loyal Lambily, the combined words 'lamb' and 'family' that Mariah use as a term of endearment for her supportive fandom.
In another tweet, the singer-songwriter expressed the feeling of being overwhelmed with the surprise. "Thank you #lambily," the singer wrote for the way her fans have always been lifting her spirits and "giving me life.."
Mimi showed further her appreciation to her fans and asked them, "How should we celebrate #JusticeForEM2?" on a separate tweet. "We Belong Together" diva showed her belongingness to them and expressed she wanted to "do a singing moment for you." The lambily poured their tracks of choice when the songbird solicited which song to perform as her way of giving back to her loyal fans.
Carey's eleventh studio album, "E=MC2" landed at No.1 on Billboard 200 on its debut and was on the board for 27 weeks. The 14-track LP gave the singer the highest first-week sales of her music career. "Touch My Body," the biggest hit from "E=MC2," peaked at No. 1 spot at the Billboard Hot 100 chart and lingered on the chart for 20 weeks.
"Touch My Body" contributed to her list of No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 - it is counted as number 18. The achievement marked her status as the solo artist with the most No. 1 spot of singles in the pop music history of the United States. The record even surpassed the legendary Elvis Presley's hit list. The songbird still holds the privilege to this day.
