In a new interview Tuesday, June 30, singer-songwriter August Alsina claims to have had a relationship with actress Jada Pinkett Smith, even claiming the Will Smith himself gave his blessing.

In the latest episode of "The Interview," American radio personality Angela Yee asked Alsina regarding the rumors that he and Jada Pinkett-Smith were linked in the past. "I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to their life partnership," Alsina explained.

He then explained that the "Men In Black" star gave his blessing. August Alsina added, "I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life."

He then admitted that he "really, deeply loved" Jada Pinkett-Smith. He said that he can die right now and "be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody," Alsina added.

"I don't like drama; drama actually makes me nauseous."

August Alsina clarified that he's not okay with his character being in question. He said that contrary to what some people may believe, he's not a troublemaker. "I don't like drama. Drama actually makes me nauseous," he told Yee. Furthermore, he opened up about losing money, friendships, and relationships because of the rumors.

Angela Yee then went to her next question, asking the R&B/hip-hop soul crooner if it was disappointing that "The Nutty Professor" actress never addressed their supposed relationship. Alsina began by making clear that he's only responsible for himself and what he does." However, he admitted that his attempts to pull himself apart from that relationship "probably will be the hardest thing that I've ever experienced in this lifetime."

According to Page Six, Alsina and Pinkett-Smith first met in 2015 through Will and Jada's son Jaden. August even came to a family vacation in Hawaii back in 2016. The two were also seen attending the 2017 BET Awards together.

Fans even speculated that the 2019 August Alsina song "Nunya" was written about Jada Pinkett-Smith. The lines "Why is you textin me / Asking who next to me" and "Why you care about who having sex with me / Now you all on my line, why you pressing me?" further fueling the rumors.

Representatives for the actress have reportedly denied the claims.

"What Is Love?"

Also, in "The Interview," Yee recounted seeing an episode where August Alsina talked about what love is. The host said that Alsina described it as "two cars just crashing together." She then said that it follows Alsina's sister's death before having to deal with the Pinkett-Smith situation.

Alsina had to remove his eyeglasses as he teared up, trying to respond to Angela Yee. He recalled having to stand over his sister's dead body. The singer remembered, "weeping, wailing, I can remember my cousin kept putting me off." He added that at that moment, he was actually grieving for himself.

He then went to recall how her late brother and sister supported him on his way to stardom. "My sister supported me so much that she got 'Team August' tatted on her when I was way younger," the 27-year-old artist shared. Meanwhile, he also recalled how his brother would tell lies to people, telling them that his younger brother August had signed a recording deal.
