Basking in the glory of its sixth consecutive week in The Billboard 200 charts, Adele's 30 was the biggest-selling album of 2021 in the United Kingdom.

The Grammy Award-Winning singer sold more than 600,000 copies of her so-called "divorce album,". Physical sales accounted for nearly 450,000 of those units, with downloads accounting for 53,000 of those sales.

However, she fell 800,000 copies short sold in its debut week compared to her previous album, 25, which dropped in 2015.

The difference demonstrates how the music biz has become dominated by singles as a result of streaming, which now accounts for 83 percent of all music consumption worldwide.

Last year, a record 147 billion tracks were streamed in the United Kingdom, representing a 5.7 percent increase over the previous year.

Chart Positions in UK and the US

As soon as it was released in the United Kingdom, '30' broke ABBA's 'Voyage' previous record of 261,000 equivalent chart sales, making it the fastest-selling album of the year in the country.

It also had the best first week of sales in 2021 in the United States, when it sold 839,000 equivalent album copies in its first week of release. In 2021, it went on to become the first album in the United States to sell more than a million copies.

Ed Sheeran's "'=" was named as the second biggest album of 2021.

She was followed by ABBA's comeback album 'Voyage' and Olivia Rodrigo's debut 'Sour', which also matched Adele's "30" for the longest-running Number One Album of 2021, with both records lasting five consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200.

Adele, on the other hand, is due to begin her Las Vegas residency at the end of this month.

'Weekends with Adele' at Las Vegas

Adele has revealed that she will be performing in Las Vegas for a 12-week residency

During the period of January 21 through April 16, 2022, the singer-songwriter will play two shows per weekend at the Colosseum in the Caesars Palace hotel.

It will be called "Weekends With Adele" and will take place in the lead-up to her two sold-out shows at BST Hyde Park in the United Kingdom next summer.

In August, reports of Adele's prospective Las Vegas residency surfaced, with a source telling the Mail On Sunday that the gigs would be "hugely lucrative" for the singer if they went ahead.
