Jon Lind, a songwriter who scored a Grammy award, has died. He was 73.
ASCAP confirmed Lind's passing in a heartfelt statement, saying that the songwriting community just lost an important soul following his death.
"The songwriting community lost a great songwriter and a beautiful soul in Jon Lind, who leaves a legacy of iconic songs both as a songwriter and supremely talented A&R man. The ASCAP family mourns his loss but his humor, his music and his wonderfully generous spirit live in our hearts," it said, as quoted by Billboard.
Lind is survived by his wife, music executive Susan Drew; their daughters, stepchildren, and grandchildren.
His family has not released a formal statement yet. But ASCAP confirmed that he died after a two-year battle with cancer.
It remains unknown what type of cancer he suffered from. Still, his fans and former colleagues took their chance to remember his legacy and contribution to the industry.
Chris Difford said, "Jon Lind such a great person so sadly now passing through the heavens "Boogie Wonderland" thank you for holding my hand co writing in LA."
"RIP Jon Lind. I met him as an A&R guy but hailed him as a songwriter. "Saved The Best For Last" is one of the greatest pop songs of all time," Linus of Hollywood penned.
John Lind's Music Career
Lind started showing his love for music when he was a teenager. The Brooklyn native began working as a folk singer with several legendary musicians, including Judy Collins and Tom Paxton.
He also established the Fifth Avenue Band while he was at New York City's Mannes College of Music. Bob Cavallo eventually managed him and the band under Warner Reprise.

Lind continuously joined several bands before he chose to become full-time in songwriting. Throughout his stint as a songwriter, he worked for award-winning singers, including Cher, Aaron Neville, Rick Astley, and Pete Townshend, among others.
The songwriter reached a massive milestone when he scored a Grammy nomination for "Save the Best for Last." Lind then worked with John Bettis to create the "Vision Quest" song, "Crazy For You."
On top of those, he also found fortune as a label executive and worked with Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney, and Demi Lovato, to name a few.
